We found that we were having problems incorporating dropbox because their API changed a couple of times and we were having trouble keeping up with it. Additionally, the app worked differently, depending on whether the dropbox app was installed on the iPad or not, which was confusing for some of our users and made support more difficult. Instead we set up our own backup system, which gives us a lot more control over the system overall, and makes support easier.
